Radio, Podcasting, and Social Media

I co-hosted my own radio show on WQAQ 98.1 FM and interned for SiriusXM in Los Angeles. I have experience editing audio and running social media accounts and campaigns.

Podcasting and Audio Work

As someone who deals with anxiety on a daily basis, I created this episode of “The Weekly Check In” to have a casual conversation about anxiety and depression. The objective was to spread awareness about mental health in a casual setting that invites conversation and feedback. I wanted to end the stereotypes that surround the topic and make it something that people can openly talk about. Using a handheld mic and some lavaliers, I had two college students discuss what their anxiety feels like, how they deal with it, and things they wish were different about mental health in general. After the interview, I used Adobe Audition to put everything together, including additional audio tracks like sound effects and music.

In the portrait above, I was lucky enough to be able to interview my grandfather who has been a travel agent for several years. After creating an outline for the project, I cam up with questions I wanted to ask him and interviewed him using “Voice Record” on my iPhone. During the interview, I worked to keep on track while also asking additional questions based on some of his answers. Following the interview, I had about 40 minutes of audio that I needed to condense into a five minute piece. Using Adobe Audition, I worked with the best audio bytes from the interview to create the portrait and added in additional sound effects and music.

When I was told to make a fictional audio piece, I was very excited. I wanted to use the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic as a base for some sort of sci-fi audio story. Being that I was in quarantine, I used myself as the lead voice actor and recorded the script I had written using “Voice Record” on my iPhone. Once the recording was finished, I brought it into Adobe Audition to edit it. I used audio bytes from different news programs to open the story and worked with a music track that added to the intense feeling of the piece. After the piece was finished, I was invited to talk about its creation on a pandemic podcast called “Isolated Together.”

Social Media Management

At the Public Relations and Marketing Group, I have taken on various social media campaigns for businesses, political candidates and other clients. I’ve used Facebook Ads Manager, TikTok For Business, Google Ads and Hootsuite, and have experience coming up with social media content for a variety of different clients.

Q30 Social Media Pitch

After working with Q30 Television’s social media presence over the course of a few weeks, I compiled a pitch to present my social media strategy for the organization. The pitch includes the overall goal I have for the organization and the social strategy I put together. I then outline some of my key findings and I discuss what Q30 is doing well and where there are opportunities to improve. Lastly, I present my overall SMART Goal and give a few examples of what their social media voice would sound like.
